The political arena in India witnessed a heated exchange as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (EC) against Congress MP from Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi, over his 'Shakti' remark. The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of making a "misogynistic" and "obnoxious" statement that allegedly hurt the sentiments of Hindus and aimed to create religious discord.

In the complaint, the BJP contended that Rahul Gandhi's use of the term 'Shakti' in reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi had derogatory undertones towards Hinduism, particularly towards the revered deity Goddess Durga. The BJP alleged that the remark was made with a malicious intent to insult religious values associated with 'Shakti' and instigate enmity among religious communities.

Furthermore, the BJP accused the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of attempting to appease certain religious groups, thereby jeopardizing the nation's peaceful environment and potentially influencing the fairness of the upcoming elections.

Rahul Gandhi's controversial statement was made during his address at Shivaji Park in Mumbai, following the conclusion of his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'. He characterized Prime Minister Modi as a 'mask' working for a 'Shakti', drawing parallels that the BJP found objectionable.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also entered the fray, condemning the 'Shakti' remark during his rallies in Telangana and Karnataka. He labeled the statement as a direct insult to Hinduism and Hindu faith, portraying the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a battle between those who revere 'Shakti' and those who seek to destroy it.

The escalating rhetoric between political factions underscores the intense polarization and ideological clashes characterizing India's political landscape. As the Election Commission assesses the complaint and the controversy rages on, the discourse around religious sentiments, political strategy, and the integrity of the electoral process takes center stage in the national conversation.
